Worth less (not worthless)
Understanding your value proposition to the rest of the human race

You are worth less – mathematically at least. Wasn’t so long ago you were 1 / 6-billionth of the world’s human resource. Very soon you’ll be 1 / 7-billionth. You’re statistically worth about 14% less to the world than you were ten years ago.
This means that unless you can do something a little different to the next guy, you’re increasingly replaceable or disposable. Especially as the next guy might just be coming up with technology that makes some of the other guys increasingly productive too.
You could see this as a threat. And if your value is no more than equal to or less than those around you, so you should. If you’re protesting your rights, fighting for the old status quo, or happy to pass off minimum standard work until you slip of at five to five, you might just be in big trouble.
If, however, you see the chances to add value where you can then this is a real opportunity. More people will mean more opportunity to add value. This is great news for entrepreneurs, outstanding leaders as well as those who are able to do their jobs with conviction and panache and rely on their results.
The plan is to know how many of the 7 billion you need, and how many need you. Tip: the answer is never all of them, but it could be as low as one.
